PMR446 stands for “Private Mobile Radio, 446 MHz”
PMR consists of 16 License free channels, originally there were only 8 channels however this was expanded to 16.
Each channel is spaced by 12.5 kHz steps off setted by 6.25 kHz from 446 MHZ (Starting at 446.00625)
If you decide to program in your apparatus for 446 MHZ please remember to select Narrow Modulation (NFM) (12.5 Khz) rather than wide to prevent splattering over two channels. Channel chart

You can use the RST (Readability, Strength, Tone) signal reporting system to communicate the quality of a signal. Readability and signal strength are usually reported during voice transmissions. When someone tells you that your signal is “5 x 9”, then you are coming in exceptionally clear.
